Poppy’s Pool
While you are out this way it
would be a sin not to be talked into a visit to Poppy’s
Pool. Cape Crawford Tourism manages Poppy’s Pool on behalf
of the Gudanji people, who are the Traditional Owners.
The pool is
located at the end of a beautiful gorge on Bauhinia Downs
Station, about 70 kilometres from Cape Crawford.
You must
paddle a short distance in the small boat provided to reach
Poppy’s Pool.
Spend a few
hours floating around this pandanus-fringed paradise with
ensuite waterfall and you are sure to find yourself
wondering out loud ‘how’s the serenity?’
The water
that feeds Poppy’s Pool rushes boiling from deep underground
and settles at a constant 27 Celsius, which discourages
critters, notably of the crocodilian variety, that otherwise
inhabit the region.
